Davis Manor - Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts
A Centennial Renaissance Castle
Nestled on the hills of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Davis Manor is a heritage gem that combines a prestigious history with modern luxury.
A Fascinating History
Built around 1910, this elegant neoclassical manor was originally Château Belvoir, the second home of Sir Mortimer Barnett Davis, a Canadian tobacco magnate nicknamed the “Tobacco King” and president of Imperial Tobacco.
Sir Davis, one of Canada’s wealthiest men in the early 20th century, was also a great philanthropist who bequeathed a significant portion of his fortune to build the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal.
After Sir Davis’s death in 1928, the château passed through various owners and fell into neglect for decades, despite several attempts at revitalization in the 1990s and 2000s.
A Renaissance in 2021
In 2020, three cousins with a passion for heritage discovered this unique site and undertook a major nine-month restoration. Château Belvoir was renamed Manoir Davis in honor of its illustrious founder and opened its doors to the public in 2021.
Now managed by Belvoir, the manor has been meticulously renovated to preserve its historic character while offering all modern comforts.
